Three candidates in Scotch Plains and two candidates in Fanwood are seeking seats on the Board of Education this coming November.

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ — It appears it will be a contested race for the school board election in Scotch Plains and Fanwood this year.

Three candidates are pursuing two open seats on the Scotch Plains Board of Education in November 2020, according to the Union County Clerk's Office.

Incumbent board members Karen Mitchell and Evan Murray all filed petitions to run for re-election by the 4 p.m. deadline to file petitions on Monday. Newcomer David Levine has also filed for a seat.

Two candidates are pursuing one open seat on the Fanwood Board of Education in November, according to the Union County Clerk's Office.

Incumbent board member Amy Boroff has filed for re-election while newcomer Margaret Maggie Savoca also filed.

Election day will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
