Excessive Heat Wave Postpones Scotch Plains Dogust Celebration

The township library will serve as a cooling center for locals on Wednesday and Thursday.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Scotch Plains Township announced it is postponing its Dogust Celebration on Wednesday due to the excessive heat advisory.

The birthday party celebrating adopted and rescued dogs is postponed to Monday, Aug. 16 at 5 p.m. at Jerseyland Park at 2377 Richmond St.

The event will include a cool off zone, crafts and activities, donation drive, food, and community groups. It is being sponsored by K9 Resorts.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive Heat Warning from 11 a.m. through 8 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Scotch Plains Public Library is serving as a cooling center. Locals are invited to stop in and cool off between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Masks are required for all.
