FANWOOD, NJ — Competing and fundraising has truly become a family affair for the Cirincione family. Fanwood local Joe Cirincione will be competing alongside his father, brother and friend in the New York City Decathlon with a goal to raise more than $30,000 for pediatric cancer.

Cirincione is competing this year with his brother Steve Cirincione, father Guy Cirincione (who is turning 60 this month), and their good friend Andrew Poulson. The event will be held at Columbia University on Saturday, June 8.

This is the fourth year Cirincione has competed and has raised more than $60,000 to support the pediatric department at Memorial Sloan Kettering over the past three years.

The family has always been active together. Even Cirincione’s father previously owned a gym in Middletown.

Now the family can be seen training at the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School track.

Cirincione is asking the community to help reach their goal of raising more than $30,000 this year. Specifically he is asking for donations on Friday when the team who raises the most on that day receives a $1,000 bonus check towards their goal.
