Fanwood Pedestrian Hit By Car, Hospitalized

The 35-year-old​ Fanwood woman was hit while crossing N. Wood Avenue in the area of St. George Ave​nue in Linden early Sunday morning.

LINDEN, NJ — A Fanwood pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a car while crossing a Linden street on Sunday morning, police report.

The 35-year-old Fanwood woman was hit while crossing N. Wood Avenue in the area of St. George Avenue in Linden just before 2 a.m. on Jan. 20, Linden Police said.

Investigators believe that the vehicle was traveling south on Wood Ave when it struck the woman as she crossed the street, police said.

The pedestrian was treated on scene by Linden Fire Department personnel and paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Hospital in Rahway and then transported to Newark University Hospital with serious injuries, and remains in critical condition, according to police.

The vehicle fled the scene traveling south on N. Wood Avenue, police report.

The crash remains under investigation by the Linden Police Department Traffic Bureau, and anyone with information urged to contact Investigator Jimmy Solano at 908-474-8505 ext. 12.
