Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA gymnasts compete in away meet

The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA C Division Gymnastics team competed in Somerville this past weekend. The competition took place at the Somerset Valley YMCA on Saturday, February 22, 2020.

The Y’s C Division team competes USAG XCEL Gold rules and was represented by 14 gymnasts in three different age groups.

The 9 and under age group was won by Milan Fevrier, who also placed 1st on Vault, Bars and Floor, and 3rd on Balance Beam. Ella Almo-Wint tied Fevrier on Bars and also took home 1st place on Balance Beam and 2nd place on Floor. Bronwyn Boris placed 3rd on Balance Beam. Allegra Johnson and Mackenzie Fiore also represented the Fanwood-Scotch Plains team in this age group.

Sophia Psathas went home with a 3rd place All-Around finish in the 10-year-old age group. She also placed 2nd on Bars and Balance Beam and 3rd on Vault and Floor. Alana Lamberti and Emily Ibrahim also competed in this age group.

Alyssa Larmore was the 2nd place winner on Balance Beam, the 3rd place finisher on Floor and All-Around, and took home 4th place on Vault and Bars in the 11-year-old age group. The 2nd place winner on Bars was Emma Johnston. Third place on Balance Beam was Eliana Woznik. Kiera Brennan went home with 4th place on Balance Beam and Floor, and 5th place on Vault and All-Around. Jenna Glander and Julia Squashic also represented this age group.

Gymnastics classes offered at the YMCA include parent-toddler, preschool and school age classes. They are offered Monday through Saturday. This is a great time to begin taking gymnastics at the YMCA! Registration is also open for summer school-age gymnastics, dance and sports camps. The Y also offers dance and sports classes as well as birthday parties.
