Fatal Sunday Night Shooting In Union County Under Investigation

Benjamin Nord, 45, of Plainfield was found suffering from gunshot wounds​ and transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

PLAINFIELD, NJ — Authorities are investigating a fatal Sunday night shooting in Plainfield, acting Union County Prosecutor Michael A. Monahan announced Monday.

The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Benjamin Nord.

Plainfield Police Division patrol units found Nord suffering from gunshot wounds on the 400 block of Liberty Street following a report of a shooting, according to the preliminary investigation.

Nord was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 8:30 p.m.

This matter remains under active joint investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force, Plainfield Police Division, and Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit.
