Find something for everyone at the YMCA this Fall

The Fanwood-Scotch Plains Y is offering a variety of programs for youth, teens and adults

This Fall, the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA is offering a variety of programs for youth, teens and adults. Whether you’re interested in sports, swimming, health and fitness, weight loss, or looking to join a community of individuals with similar interests, the Y has you covered during its upcoming Fall 2 session.

The session runs November 1-December 23, 2021, and online registration kicks off Monday, October 18 at 9:00am. Programs are currently open to active members of the Fanwood-Scotch Plains Y. Not a member? Learn how you can become part of the Y community at fspymca.org/join-the-y. The Y is also waiving its Joiner’s Fee through October 31, 2021.

Here are a few program highlights from the upcoming session:

Swim Lessons: The Y continues to offer swim lessons with classes for infants through adults focused on improving skills and safety in and around the water. Classes are offered for beginner through more advanced swimmers.

YMCA Weight Loss Program: This program is based on lifestyle coaching, problem solving and goal setting to promote sustainable weight loss. Changing habits is a gradual process, let the Y help you be accountable. This program meets weekly for weigh-ins and a group class.

Youth Gymnastics: Gymnastics is a fun way for a child to develop motor skills, self-esteem, self-discipline and coordination. Providing the foundation for fitness and the fundamentals of movement, gymnastics prepares a child for participation in all sports and provides lifelong benefits to its participants. Classes are offered for toddlers to teens with beginner through more advanced levels.

Youth Sports: For preschoolers, the Y is offering Preschool Basketball, Gym Ninja, Gym Games and Mini Ninja Warrior; for school aged kids, its offering Ninja Warrior, Basketball I, Basketball II and Teen Volleyball. High Schoolers can take part in the Y’s co-ed volleyball pick-up games. There’s sports of all sorts and something for everyone at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA!

Preschool Programs: For kids ages 3-5, the Y offers preschool enrichment programs throughout the year to help them learn and thrive. During the Fall 2 Session, the Y is offering “Messy Fingers,” a class in which children will try different art techniques, as well as “Recycle & Create” that allows students to explore the earth in fun, eco-friendly ways.

Vacation Full Days: When school’s out, the Y is in. The Vacation Full Days program is open to active FSPY members in grades kindergarten through 5 on most days that the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Public Schools are closed for the holidays or vacation days. The program runs from 7:00am-6:30pm at the main Y building and each day has its own theme. Registration for this program is currently open here under “Daxko Program Registration.”
