Registration for summer programs begins June 13

The Fanwood-Scotch Plains Y is offering programs such as swim lessons, gymnastics and dance classes, teen fitness programs and more this summer.

Make this the summer of YOU with classes and programs at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA. This summer, the Y is excited to offer a variety of programs for youth, teens and adults, including sports, swimming, gymnastics, dance, health and fitness options and so much more.

From June 12 through Father’s Day, June 19, the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA will offer a $0 Joiner’s Fee special. When new members join during this time, the Y will waive the Joiner’s Fee, a savings of up to $100!

New members can join online at fspymca.org/join-the-y in time for summer program registration, which begins Monday, June 13 at 9:00am. Registration is open to active members at fspymca.org/register under “Daxko Program Registration.” The Y’s summer program session runs from June 27-August 28, 2022.

The Y continues to offer programs and services included with membership such as: group exercise classes for all fitness levels and interests; lap swimming and water walking lanes; family swim; select adult sports programs; open gym; special events, and more. Plus, the Fanwood-Scotch Plains Y recently launched a new virtual wellness platform just for members that they can access anytime, anywhere!

Swim Lessons: The Fanwood-Scotch Plains Y offers lessons for children ages 6 months and up through to adults. Registration for summer swim lessons is open to new and returning swim lesson participants, and the Y will be holding two swim lesson sessions this summer: one in July, and one in August.

Health and Safety classes: This summer, the Y will continue to offer American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR and AED courses, along with a variety of Lifeguarding courses. These programs are open to Y members and members of the community.

Youth Gymnastics: Gymnastics is a fun way for a child to develop motor skills, self-esteem, self-discipline and coordination. This summer, the Y will offer two 4-week sessions for kids ages 3 and up, along with Tuesday Event Clinics. These clinics offer gymnasts an opportunity to focus on one specific event per week.

Youth Dance: The Fanwood-Scotch Plains Y is excited to bring back preschool and youth dance classes. There will be a number of classes for kids ages 2.5 and up this summer, aimed at introducing kids to different techniques, building or enhancing skills and having fun!

Youth Sports: There’s sports of all sorts and something for everyone at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA! For preschoolers, the Y is offering All Star Sports and Gym Games; for school age kids, there’s Floor Hockey and Basketball, and for teens, there’s Volleyball, Track Conditioning and the Have A Ball class featuring a variety of sports.

Teen Fitness: Introducing Generation Next, a program specifically for high school students focused on developing total body strength, endurance, overall athletic performance and teamwork. Exercises are designed to accelerate and improve overall athletic performance, while providing safe and proper exercise technique.
