Five Things: Council Meeting, Book Clubs, Winter Concerts and 'Blue Christmas'

The events and issues to keep in mind today.

  1. The Scotch Plains Township Council holds its last meeting of 2010 tonight. The conference session starts at 7 p.m. in the second floor conference room of the , and the regular session starts at 8 p.m. in the court room.
  2. The Fanwood Recreation Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. in the  Recreation Building.
  3. Two book clubs meet today. The  book club meets at 7:30 p.m. to discuss "Tinkers" by Paul Harding. The  afternoon book club meets at 1 p.m. to discuss "Of the Farm" by John Updike.
  4.  choral groups hold their winter concert tonight, starting at 7:30. Click here to learn more.
  5. Willow Grove Presbyterian Church holds a unique Christmas service this evening. Geared toward those who find Christmas "a painful reminder of what has been lost," as well as "those dealing with financial strain, depression, grief, broken relationships or illness," the church is hosting, "Blue Christmas: A Service of Comfort and Hope."
