Fraud, Theft, Drug Possession Reported In Scotch Plains

Scotch Plains Police reported fraud, theft, drug possession and warrant arrests recently.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Scotch Plains Police reported fraud, theft, drug possession and warrant arrests recently.

Scotch Plains Police blotter:

On Nov. 29: Aaron M. Scott, 25, of Middlesex was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of South Plainfield during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Gerard Rites. Scott was transported to headquarters and processed.

On Nov. 29: A resident of Westfield reported the theft of a wallet from their vehicle which was parked at the YMCA located at 1340 Martine Ave. Under investigation.

On Nov. 29: Eylon A. Bascom, 25, of East Orange was arrested for possession of prescription legend drugs and possession of marijuana during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Andrew Gitto. He was also found to have an active warrant out of Newark. Bascom was transported to headquarters and processed.

On Nov. 30: Stephanie S. Guzman, 27, of Newark was arrested on outstanding warrants out of Scotch Plains and Newark by Officer Melissa Rivera. Guzman was processed at headquarters.

On Dec. 1: A resident on Rivervale Court reported a fraud. Someone accessed the victim’s bank account information and made unauthorized purchases. Under investigation.

On Dec. 1: Officers responded to the 1100 block of Lenape Way on a report of a fire. The resident noticed flames coming from a surge protector inside the home and was able to extinguish the flames. The Scotch Plains Fire Department responded to access the situation.

On Dec. 1: A resident in the 2200 block of Mountain Ave. reported a fraud. The victim stated several credit cards were opened in their name with numerous purchases being made. Under investigation.

On Dec. 3: A resident on Country Club Lane reported a fraud. The victim stated she lost cell phone service and contacted her provider who informed her that someone transferred her cell number to another account. Under investigation.

On Dec. 5: Wilson A. Mercado, 58, of Union City was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Jersey City during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Mike Smolinski. Mercado was transported to headquarters and processed.

On Dec. 9: Colin L. Modica, 27, of Plainfield was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Eric Fricks. Modica was transported to headquarters and processed.

On Dec. 9: Rigoberto Alonzo, 42, of Plainfield was arrested for providing a fraudulent insurance card to Patrolman Gerard Rites during a motor vehicle stop. Transported to headquarters and processed.
