Why are you running for the school board?

Although my children have long since left the schools I still have had a passion for the community and the education of our kids. I feel strongly that our district is high functioning but I wanted to be on the board to ensure that it remains high functioning, as well as help attain higher goals.

What experience do you have that would help you serving on the school board?

I have volunteered through PTA for the past 20 years. I have held the President position at all the school levels as well as the district level. I continue to volunteer for as a trustee for SPF Scholarship Foundation and a chaperone at Project Graduation. Prior to holding my BOE seat I was the Treasurer of the Scotch Plains Fanwood Education Enrichment Foundation. I have been on the board for the past 2 ½ years. Although I have worked closely with the district offices through PTA over the years, there is a learning curve to being on the Board of Education. I have experience and passion with working with the school district.

What issues would you like to see addressed if elected?

We have just reestablished our community relations committee which I am currently chairing. It was reestablished based on input from the public plus the fact that the board saw a real need to connect with the community. I feel this is an important objective that I would like to support and foster with the rest of the board.
