Gun Found During Traffic Stop In Fanwood

Fanwood Police reported finding a handgun and a magazine inside a car they stopped on Terrill Road.

FANWOOD, NJ — A gun was found during a traffic stop in Fanwood, police reported recently.

On Feb. 20 at 10:42 a.m. a Fanwood Police Officer stopped a vehicle stop at Terrill Road and East 2nd Street. While speaking with the driver, Rachel Wheeler, 28 of Plainfield, the officer saw a handgun magazine in the glove box, police report.

Wheeler admitted there was a gun under the driver's seat. Officers searched the car and found the handgun, police report.

Wheeler was arrested, charged with numerous firearms and motor vehicle violations. She was processed and released pending her appearance in Superior Court in Elizabeth.

On Feb. 17 at 12:10 p.m.: Officer made a motor vehicle stop at Terrill Road and East 2nd Street for a motor vehicle violation. A check of the driver, Samad Adams, 28, of North Plainfield shows an active warrant out of Watchung. Adams was arrested, processed and released by Watchung Municipal Court.

On Feb. 18 at 10:30 a.m.: Officer made a motor vehicle stop at East 7th Street and Sterling Place for a motor vehicle violation. A check of the driver, Rodrigo Gazali, 47, of Plainfield, shows an active warrant out of Jersey City. Gazali was arrested, processed, posted bail and released.
