Jersey City’s 87 Sussex to Host Fall Cooking Class With Chef Brian Walter
Guests can watch a four-course autumn menu come together, then eat it, at the downtown restaurant's curated dinner on Nov. 4.

Downtown restaurant 87 Sussex is inviting diners to pull up a seat and watch dinner being made this fall, as Chef Brian Walter hosts a cooking class and tasting on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
The event, part of the restaurant’s 87 Sussex Curated Experience series, begins at 7 p.m. at 87 Sussex St. Despite the “cooking class” name, guests won’t need to pick up a knife. Chef Walter will prepare a multi-course menu in front of the group, explaining each dish as he cooks before serving it. Organizers describe it as an intimate evening built around great food, wine and company.

- Chef Brian’s Lasagna Bolognese: a pork, veal and beef ragout layered with béchamel and Parmigiano Reggiano
- Duck à l’Orange: crispy-skinned duck breast with Grand Marnier, orange gastrique and natural jus
- Savory Wild Mushroom Bread Pudding: wild mushrooms, Gruyère, fresh thyme and brioche
- Apple Tarte Tatin: caramelized apples on flaky pastry, finished with crème fraîche
Tickets are $85 per person and must be prepaid. New Jersey sales tax and a 20 percent gratuity will be added to that price. Reservations are available through OpenTable for parties of one to 20.
