Letter to the Editor: LeStrange and the Democratic Ticket

Democratic Council candidate Neal LeStrange asks residents for their votes.

To My Fellow Residents: Please Do Not Be Misled

Election Day is a very important day in America. It gives you, the voters, the very important task of picking the representatives of your government to represent you. I am asking you to make an informed decision. In the local Scotch Plains Township you will be selecting three candidates to four-year terms. In Scotch Plains, five members sit on the council. So this is a very important time, as this election will set the tone of your local government for the next four years. My running mates, Kevin Glover, Mickey Marcus and I have been working very hard to gain your support and trust over the last six months. We have met many of you and heard your concerns. We know what it is like in these tough economic conditions. We know it's even tougher on our seniors and those looking for employment. We know that the burdens of higher property taxes and a new sewer tax can cause to a family. We will do everything in our power to put a stop to the rising cost of living in Scotch Plains.

We have also stood by our pledge to not engage in negative campaigning.  I wish our opponents could have done the same. After all, when this election is over we are all still neighbors. Most of what has been said about us in the mailings is untrue or just outright lies. That's why I am asking you the voters to listen to all candidates. Ask yourself who is campaigning on issues and who is running a campaign based on character assassination.

This year, for the first time, the race for council included two debates.  These are being replayed on our local access channels, Comcast 34 and Verizon 22. Please watch and listen to what each candidate has to say.  You will see clearly that the right choice for the direction of our community is Glover, LeStrange, and Marcus. Do not be swayed by last minute untrue negative campaign literature issued by our opponents. Vote for Glover LeStrange Marcus on November 2nd. Together let's get Scotch Plains moving in the right direction.
