Updated Swim Lessons Structure: In the new year, the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA is offering an easy, one-time sign up for its popular swim lessons programs. The next swim lesson session will run from January through June and participants only need to sign up for lessons once during this time. The lesson day and time remains the same throughout the program, and individuals progress through swim lessons until they have successfully achieved the benchmarks of the program or meet their personal goals.

Youth Gymnastics: Gymnastics is a fun way for a child to develop motor skills, self-esteem, self-discipline and coordination. Providing the foundation for fitness and the fundamentals of movement, gymnastics prepares a child for participation in all sports and provides lifelong benefits to its participants. Classes are offered for toddlers through teens with beginner through more advanced levels.

Youth Sports: A number of the Y’s fantastic and fun sports programs are being offered during the Winter. For preschoolers, the Y is offering Preschool Basketball, Gym Games and Mini Ninja Warrior; for school-aged kids, the Y is offering Ninja Warrior, Teen Volleyball and Cheerleading. Plus, Winter Basketball Leagues are back at the Y!

Preschool Programs: For kids ages 3-5, the Y offers preschool enrichment programs throughout the year to help them learn and thrive. During the Winter Session, the Y is offering “Let’s Meet Famous Artists,” a class in which children will be introduced to 8 famous artists and create artwork inspired by them, as well as “Cooking Around the World,” which explores different cultures and cooking.

Vacation Full Days: When school’s out, the Y is in. The Vacation Full Days program is open to active FSPY members in grades kindergarten through 5 on most days that the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Public Schools are closed for the holidays or vacation days. The program runs from 7:00am-6:30pm at the main Y building and each day has its own theme. Registration for this program is currently open here under “Daxko Program Registration.”

Kids & Middle School Night Out: This Winter, the Y is offering these two specialty youth programs open to its members. Kids Night Out is for children in kindergarten through 4th grade. Parents get the opportunity to go out without the kids while the kids are having a blast at the Y with a movie, pizza and free swim. Middle School Night Out is specifically tailored for grades 5-8 and revolves around socializing with friends and being active at the Y.
