Man Charged With Assault After Heavy Police Activity In Fanwood
What began as a call about a potential robbery and stolen vehicle in Fanwood ended with a simple assault charge on Tuesday, said police.
FANWOOD, NJ — A man was charged with simple assault following heavy police activity in Fanwood on Tuesday afternoon.
Around 2:10 p.m. Fanwood police got a call about a potential robbery and stolen vehicle in the area of Terrill Road and Midway Avenue, said Fanwood Police Lt. Dan Kranz.
As a result, there was a "heavy" police presence from officers in Fanwood, Scotch Plains, Plainfield and Watchung who all came out.

"Further investigation found that there was a misunderstanding and altercation between two people. One person was charged with simple assault," said Kranz.
Police are not releasing names at this time, said Kranz.

No other information is being released at this time as the incident remains under investigation by Fanwood Police.
