Man Wanted For Stealing Bottles Of Cough Syrup In Scotch Plains

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — A man is still on the loose after Scotch Plains Police say he went into a township pharmacy and stole bottles of cough syrup.

On Aug. 22, Scotch Plains Police were called to the CVS pharmacy at 514 Park Ave. on a possible robbery in progress.

When police arrived they were told that a black man wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt opened the door to the pharmacy counter and stole bottles of cough syrup, said police.

The man then fled the store heading south. Officers checked the surrounding area and were unable to find him. This remains under investigation.

On Aug. 17: A resident on Raritan Road reported that someone fraudulently applied for unemployment benefits in their name.

On Aug. 19: A resident on William Street reported that someone fraudulently applied for unemployment benefits in their name.

On Aug. 19: A resident on East 2 nd Street reported the theft of a black Blackops bicycle during the daytime hours.

On Aug. 19: A resident on Acacia Road reported receiving harassing phone calls.

On Aug. 20: A resident on Wheatley Court reported that someone fraudulently applied for unemployment benefits in their
name.

On Aug. 22: Officers responded to a residence on Unami Lane on a report of a vehicle on fire. Upon arrival, they found a 2005 Audi A8 fully engulfed in flames in the driveway. The Scotch Plains Fire Department responded and were able to extinguish the fire. Two other vehicles also sustained minor fire damage. No injuries reported.
