SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ — Meet Mia Mae! She has been chosen as Scotch Plains-Fanwood Patch's Pet Of The Week.
"Mia Mae is the third Cocker Spaniel that my family has had. She is not only our pet, she is our family hero and guardian angel.
On Oct. 16, 2011, my sister, a friend and myself were sound asleep when a fire broke out at her condominium in Cranford. We were lucky to have Mia with us because she was barking uncontrollably to wake us up to a blazing fire. We were told by the Cranford Fire Department that we were very lucky to get out of the condo when we did because the fire was in the room which had our only exit.

When we were leaving the condo, I realized Mia was not with us so I ran back in and grabbed her to save her life because she saved ours. This is reason our family will always a special place in our hearts for Mia Mae."
