Monthly Book Clubs at the Scotch Plains Public Library
Reading is social! Join ScotLib's monthly book clubs!

On Monday, October 17 at 7:00 PM, the Evening Book Club will be meeting to discuss A Thousand Acres by Jane Smiley. Winner of the 1992 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, this ambitious reimagining of Shakespeare’s King Lear takes on themes of truth, justice, love, and pride, and reveals the beautiful yet treacherous topography of humanity.
On Tuesday, October 18 at 1:00 PM, the Afternoon Book Club will discuss The American by Henry James. Originally published as a serial in the Atlantic Monthly, in this classic collision of the New World with Old Europe, James weaves a fable of thwarted desire that shifts between comedy, tragedy, romance, and melodrama.
All programs are free and open to interested members of the public.
