Multiple Cars Burglarized, 1 Stolen In Scotch Plains

A Scotch Plains man was also arrested for driving under the influence following a crash recently, police report.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — A number of vehicles were burglarized and one was stolen recently in the township.

Scotch Plains Police Blotter:

On Sept. 20: A resident on Hidden Hollow reported receiving fraudulent EZ pass violations in the mail.

On Sept. 21: A resident on Hetfield Avenue reported the theft of a 2001 Dodge pickup truck. The vehicle has been entered stolen.

On Sept. 21: Terrence C. Strother, 29 of Plainfield was arrested for defiant trespass during a suspicious persons investigation at a construction site of Woodland Avenue. Patrolman Andrew Gitto and Patrolman Scott Leyden responded to the location after the property manager called reporting someone on the property. They located the suspect hiding in the attic and placed him under arrest without incident. Strother was taken to headquarters and processed.

On Sept. 22: A resident on Lenape Way reported their vehicle was burglarized during the overnight hours.

On Sept. 22: A resident on Round Hill Road reported their vehicle was burglarized during the overnight hours.

On Sept. 24: Numerous landscape vehicles were burglarized on a property in the 1900 block of Route 22.

On Sept. 24: Fitzroy P. Tate, 40, of Roselle was arrested for possession of a fraudulent temporary license plate and active warrants out of Roselle and Cranford during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Officer Tricia DiLollo. Tate was taken to headquarters and processed.

On Sept. 24: The management of the Exxon Station at 1800 Route 22 reported the theft of gas. A man operating a 2016 Gray Kia Optima requested gas and drove away without paying. It was determined that the vehicle was entered stolen.

On Sept. 24: Kevin B. Burns, 60, of Scotch Plains was arrested for driving under the influence during a motor vehicle accident investigation conducted by Patrolman Mike Baltazar. No injuries were reported. Burns was taken to headquarters and processed.

On Sept. 25: A resident in the 1900 block of Bartle Avenue reported their vehicle was burglarized during the overnight hours.

On Sept. 25: Luca D. Calligy, 18, of Scotch Plains was arrested for disorderly conduct during a disturbance on Hetfield Avenue by Patrolman Javier Maldonado. Calligy was taken to headquarters and processed.

On Sept. 25: Nidia E. Morales, 31, of Plainfield was arrested for disorderly conduct during a
disturbance on Spruce Mill Lane. Morales was taken to headquarters and processed.
