Nearly 300 people participate in United for a Cause 5K & 1 Miler

Proceeds from the event benefit families in our community

On Wednesday, May 16, nearly 300 people participated in the United for a Cause 5K and Family 1 Mile Walk/Run at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA. The event was a collaboration between the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA and the Scotch Plains-Fanwood PTA Council. It supports the LIVESTRONG(r) at the YMCA program, a twelve-week physical activity program free to members of our community recovering from cancer, and the Scotch Plains-Fanwood PTA Council Health and Wellness Scholarship.

Christopher Manzano took home first place in the 5K, followed by Alex Calfano in second and Matt Calfano in third. Bridget Sherrat was the first woman to cross the finish line, followed by Dina Lindner in second and Isabella Fiore in third.
