Family And Community Engagement Corp (FACE Corp)/Goshu-Kwan Studio also offers Jiu Jitsu, cardio kickboxing, self defense and more.
SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Former teacher Myke Washington may have retired from the school system but he is not done educating others. Washington recently opened the Family And Community Engagement Corp (FACE Corp)/Goshu-Kwan Studio in Scotch Plains.
The studio at 1733 E. Second St. offers martial arts, karate, Jiu Jitsu, cardio kickboxing, weapons stick fighting, basic self defense courses and more.
"I have a very rich experience in terms of education and I really wanted to lead an organization and do a lot more especially for the children," Washington of Plainfield said. "I use my experience and talents to really look at the whole child and their potential. I also have a background in working with kids with special needs."

"Benefits of our classes help build self esteem, self confidence, self discipline, focusing skills, camaraderie and diversity," Washington said. "We cater to a diverse group of folks and they all come and learn to work together. There is a lot of love in this."
Additionally, Washington also offers music lessons, meditation, mentoring and more.
Lessons are open to children starting at age 3, and there are adult and teen classes as well.
FACE Corp is hoping to soon offer their "Rock-It Science" afternoon Academic Martial Arts and Fitness program, which will include homework help and mentoring, as well as music lessons, and more. Space is limited. The hours are 2:45 to 5:45 p.m. Monday through Friday, for grades 2 through 6.
