SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Meet Sparky! He has been chosen as Patch's Pet Of The Week. Nominate your Pet for Scotch Plains-Fanwood's Pet of the Week and winners receive 20 percent off any single item in Dukes's Pet Den.

"I've wanted a dog my whole life and when I finally got Sparky he was worth the wait. Let me tell you about my amazing Mini Goldendoodle.

Firstly, he's the perfect size and is adorably fluffy. His mom is a full-sized Goldendoodle and his dad’s a Mini Poodle, making him the perfect medium-sized dog with the cutest little 'corgi-legs' that are much too short for his large golden retriever torso. He truly is the perfect mix: he has the spirit and goofy grin of a golden retriever but all the sass and personality of a poodle.

But more than just his physical cuteness, he’s wildly intelligent and so loving. He learns tricks in a day; he can roll over, shake, turn around, close the door, and 'crowd favorite' play dead! Some of his favorite hobbies include going off leash on a nearby golf course, sliding down the slides at the park, spending time with his best friend/neighbor (a mutt) Tengo, chasing squirrels and deer, car rides, and, really, going anywhere with his family. He's a dog that can do it all: go out for an adventure or stay in and cuddle while watching TV.

He has a talent of making everyone who meets him fall in love — he even did the impossible, of converting my mom into a dog lover. I hope he gets the recognition and dog treats he deserves.

Do you think your pet should be Scotch Plains-Fanwood's Pet of the Week?

Participating in the Pet of the Week happenings is simple: submit your nomination by emailing alexis.tarrazi@patch.com with subject line "Scotch Plains-Fanwood Pet Of The Week." Be sure to include a photograph or two of your pet, a paragraph about what makes him or her so great, and the town you're from.

You can choose to include your name, but you don't need to. Then just keep an eye out for a photo of your pet on the Patch!

The photo can be of a present pet, or it can be a baby picture of the adult pet you're so proud of today. All photos must be property of the submitter.

Additionally the chosen Pet of the Week will receive 20 percent off any single item in Dukes's Pet Den in Scotch Plains. And winners can also bring their pet into the store, located at 417 Park Ave., in Scotch Plains for a picture. Duke's will put them up on their Facebook page as well.
