North Plainfield 3-Alarm Fire Remains Under Investigation

One of the residents injured in the fire remains in critical but stable condition, while the other man is listed in stable condition.

NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ — A three-alarm house fire that hospitalized two men remains under investigation by the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.

The fire broke out at a home on Grove Street at around 11 a.m. Firefighters from three different counties responded to help extinguish the blaze.

Two residents of the home were injured from the fire and taken to an undisclosed trauma center. One of the adult men remains in critical but stable condition, while the other adult man is listed in stable condition, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said.

Fire companies from Somerset County (North Plainfield, Bridgewater/Finderne, Bound Brook, Green Brook, Watchung and Warren), Union County (Plainfield), and Middlesex County (South Plainfield) all came to help extinguish the fire. Emergency Medical Personnel from North Plainfield, JFK Paramedics, Atlantic BLS, and Robert Wood Johnson also responded.

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office along with North Plainfield Police, the Somerset County Fire Investigation Unit and Fire Officials from North Plainfield are investigating the cause of the fire.
