Pedestrian Hit By Car, In Critical Condition: Roselle Park Police

The Roselle Park resident was walking in a designated crosswalk when they were hit by a car on Wednesday, police said.

ROSELLE PARK, NJ — A pedestrian walking in a designated crosswalk was hit by a car in Roselle Park on Wednesday afternoon.

The Roselle Park resident was crossing at the intersection of West Grant Avenue and Locust Street when they were hit on Oct. 2 around 1:30 p.m., Roselle Park Police Detective Sgt. Richard Cocca said.

The driver that hit the pedestrian stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, Cocca said.

The pedestrian was transported by Union County EMS and Paramedics to University Hospital, in Newark where they remain in critical condition.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call police at 908-245-2300.

Roselle Park Police Chief Daniel J. McCaffery is reminding the public "to be vigilant of pedestrians crossing in designated crosswalks. State law dictates that a vehicle must stop for a pedestrian within a designated crosswalk."
