Plainfield Bar Serves Alcohol To Patrons: Coronavirus Violation

A Plainfield bar owner is charged with violating new coronavirus outbreak emergency orders after he was serving booze to patrons inside.

PLAINFIELD, NJ — A Plainfield bar owner is charged with violating new coronavirus outbreak emergency orders after he was caught serving booze to patrons inside his restaurant, according to the Office of Attorney General.

Cristobal Sanchez, 62, of Plainfield, the owner of the Tequila Club restaurant and bar on East 5th Street was charged on Friday night by the Plainfield Police with serving alcohol to patrons inside the bar in violation of the emergency orders, according to the OAG.

Police were alerted that the bar was open and found three people seated at the bar drinking alcohol. A few more people were also seated at tables, according to the OAG.

Sanchez was inside the restaurant and said that because the people were waiting for take-out orders, he thought he was allowed to serve them alcohol inside the premises, according to the OAG.
