Racial Slur Written On Neighbor's Car Window In Scotch Plains
A Scotch Plains homeowner also reported fraud after she paid a roofing company to do work at her home and the work was never completed.
SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — A Scotch Plains resident reported a bias incident involving a racial slur being written on his car on Sunday.
A resident in the 2300 block of Coles Avenue said he parked his vehicle at 1:30 p.m. on Satuday and on Feb. 2 at 7:30 a.m. noticed a racial slur written on his car window, Scotch Plains Police said.
Officers along with members of the detective bureau responded. The incident is under active investigation.

On Jan. 28: Yaqub R. Abdur-Rahman, 29, of Plainfield was arrested on an active warrant out of Newark during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Rolando Rodriguez. Abdur-Rahman was transported to headquarters and processed.

On Jan. 28: Roderick J. Stewart, 26, of Cedar Knolls was arrested on an active warrant out of Fanwood during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Kyle Savoia. Stewart was transported to headquarters and processed.
On Jan. 30: A business owner on Park Avenue reported an illegal dumping. This is under investigation.
On Jan. 30: A resident on Haven Avenue reported fraudulent activity involving a loan which was applied for. This is under investigation.
On Jan. 31: Dahwula S. Quoikapor, 65, of Maplewood was arrested on an active warrant out of Raritan Township during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Rolando Rodriguez. Quoikapor was transported to headquarters and processed.
On Jan. 31: A resident on Sunnyfield Lane reported a fraud. The victim stated she paid a roofing company to do work at her home and the work was never completed. Initial information provided by the complainant shows the suspect does not work for the company anymore. This remains under investigation.
On Feb. 1: Manuel A. Duverge, 25, of East Orange was arrested for possession of marijuana and
possession of drug paraphernalia during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Mike Smolinski. Duverge was transported to headquarters and processed.
On Feb. 1: Jonathan Gonzalez-Duran, 27, of Plainfield was arrested for driving under the influence
during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Mike Baltazar. Gonzalez-Duran was transported to headquarters and processed.
On Feb. 1: A resident reported the theft of numerous credit cards from an unsecured locker at the Robert Wood Johnson fitness center located at 2120 Lamberts Mill Rd. in Scotch Plains. The cards were used at several locations and have since been cancelled. This remains under investigation.
On Feb. 2: Jarek Wegiel, 43, of Warren was arrested for driving under the influence during a motor
vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Mike Baltazar. Wegiel was transported to headquarters and processed.
On Feb. 2: The management at the Power Gas station located at 2650 Route 22 reported the theft of gas. A man driving a black vehicle fueled up and fled without paying. This is under investigation.
On Feb. 3: Rodriguez L. Sharpe, 43, of Newark was arrested on an active warrant out of Irvington during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Mike Baltazar. Sharpe was transported to headquarters and processed.
