The Fanwood-Scotch Plain YMCA is offering new and returning programs for youth, teens and adults this spring

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ – The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA is offering a variety of new programs and returning favorites for the Spring 2 Session. There's something for everyone—from youth gymnastics and dance to sports and enrichment programs for kids, teens, and all ages. Registration is now open!

In addition to the session highlights below, the Y continues to offer a range of programs and services included with full membership such as: group exercise classes for all fitness levels and interests; lap swimming and water walking lanes; family swim; adult sports programs; open gym; special events, and more. Plus, FSPY has a virtual wellness platform, Y Wellness 24/7 that members can access anytime, anywhere!

Preschool and Youth Enrichments: Does your child love to create, cook, and play? We have a variety of enrichment programs for all ages. The Y is offering many informative and fun programs including Cooking Across America, Part 2 (ages 3-5), Tiny Taste Makers (ages 5-7), Sew Much Fun! Kids Knitting & Crochet (ages 6-11), NEW! Art in the Open (ages 6-11), Catch 'Em All (ages 6-11), Master Mini Chefs (ages 8-11), Tween Chef Academy (ages 12-14), and Magic: The Gathering (ages 12-15).
Youth & Middle School Sports: You want sports? The Y has all sorts! For the Spring 2 session, the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA is offering sports classes for ages 3 -5 including Preschool Basketball, Mini Ninja Warriors, All Star Sports, and Preschool T-Ball. School Age Programs include: Ninja Warrior (ages 6-9) Elementary School Track (Grades 2-4), Basketball Skill Clinic (Ages 6-11), Archery (Ages 7+), Volleyball Clinic (Grades 5-8) and NEW! Middle School Girls Flag Football League (Grades 5-8)
Youth Gymnastics: The Y offers a variety of classes for different ages and levels, starting at age 3 and up. Gymnastics classes will help your child develop balance, coordination and self-esteem, while building their gymnastics skills. Our youth classes also utilize the Beam, Bar, Floor and Vault to develop gymnastics skills.
Dance: We are offering an Introduction to Ballet/Tap for ages 3-5. This class will help your child develop motor skills and self-confidence in a fun introductory ballet/tap combination class. School age programs for ages 6-11 include Ballet/Tap Level 1 plus our NEW! Acro 101(a combination of Acrobatics and simple dance moves which create a fun and enjoyable dance genre).
Teen Fitness: We are continuing the Y’s popular Teen Wellness program for teens ages 12-13 in grades 7-8, which teaches them to safely and effectively use the equipment in our Wellness Center. We are also offering Teen and Family group exercise classes including Cycle and Stretch & Tone which are included with Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA membership.
Kids Night Out: Parents can go out without the kids, while the kids have a blast at the Y! Held the second Friday of the month from 6:00-9:45pm, kids will enjoy a pizza dinner, popcorn, a movie and free swim. This program is open to Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA members and community members in grades K-4. Our next program is May 9.
Health and Safety Classes: The Y continues to offer American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR and AED courses, which are open to FSPY members and members of the community. American Red Cross Lifeguarding courses are available throughout the year, including this spring. And, in July, we will be offering the American Red Cross Babysitter Training for ages 11-15.
Join us for HEALTHY KIDS DAY on Saturday, April 26, 12:00 to 3:00pm.This event is free and open to the community. Featured activities include: Face painting, fun crafts for preschool and school age children, bird feeder projects, gardening activities, family interactive games, sports court family recreation, healthy snacks and more. Healthy Kids Day will be held on Saturday, rain or shine. If the event is held indoors due to weather, Y members can check in at the Welcome Center with your Y card. Community members 18 years and over will need to present a government-issued photo ID to check in. All checked-in guests will receive wrist bands for access to the Healthy Kids Day activities throughout the building. Throughout the weekend (April 25-27), the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA will be offering a special joiner’s fee of only $20.25 for new members. The special joiner’s fee promotion will help support the 2025 Annual Campaign, Here for our Community – Every Step of the Way.
