EMTs Injured In Ambulance Crash In Scotch Plains

Of those injured were two Plainfield Rescue Squad EMT's and a Cadet​.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Emergency responders were among four people injured in a two-vehicle crash involving an ambulance in Scotch Plains on Wednesday, police said.

A Plainfield Ambulance and a minivan crashed while driving on Front Street in Scotch Plains just before 2 p.m. on Aug. 7, Scotch Plains Captain Jeffrey Briel said.

Four people were injured and sent to area hospitals. Of those injured were two Plainfield Rescue Squad EMT's and a Cadet.

Three of the four people were later released from the hospital. The fourth remains under observation, Scotch Plains Captain Jeffrey Briel said.

The Plainfield ambulance was not responding to a call and did not have any patients on board at the time of the crash, Briel said.
