Riley Is Scotch Plains-Fanwood's Pet Of The Week

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ — Meet Riley! She has been chosen as Scotch Plains-Fanwood Patch's Pet Of The Week.

"I would like to submit our 1.5 year-old lab mix, Riley. My wife, Katie, and I adopted Riley from Home for Good in Berkeley Heights last December. It's been a wonderful year having her in the house with us.

Riley loves to play tug-of-war with us. We get the better of her inside on the carpet but outside she'll pull us right over. She loves to run (at full speed, all the time) with her other puppy friends in the neighborhood, especially our friends' dogs, Zoey, Ray, and Bunker. Her vertical leap is also impressive as she's been known to jump over her puppy friends while they're playing together.

Riley enjoys going hiking with us throughout New Jersey and absolutely loves to play in running water, especially the creek we discovered at Landsdown Trail in Clinton. After a long day of any number of these activities, Riley loves to cuddle with us on the couch while we watch TV and sometimes even jumps into bed with us to snuggle overnight.

Here are some pictures we recently took of the three of us at a park in Cranford. I also created a GoPro video of our last time to the creek I mentioned. She has such a blast in the water!"

Participating in the Pet of the Week happenings is simple: submit your nomination by emailing alexis.tarrazi@patch.com with subject line "Scotch Plains-Fanwood Pet Of The Week." Be sure to include a photograph or two of your pet, a paragraph about what makes him or her so great, and the town you're from.

You can choose to include your name, but you don't need to. Then just keep an eye out for a photo of your pet on the Patch!

The photo can be of a present pet, or it can be a baby picture of the adult pet you're so proud of today. All photos must be property of the submitter.

Additionally the chosen Pet of the Week will receive 20 percent off any single item in Dukes's Pet Den in Scotch Plains. And winners can also bring their pet into the store, located at 417 Park Ave., in Scotch Plains for a picture. Duke's will put them up on their Facebook page as well.
