Sage Is Scotch Plains-Fanwood's Pet Of The Week

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ — Meet Sage! She has been chosen as Scotch Plains-Fanwood Patch's Pet Of The Week.

"Hi, this is Sage! She's been apart of our family for about six weeks and it already feels like she's been with us since birth. She's approximately three years old and came to us ALLLL the way from Tennessee! Her foster moms took care of her for the last four months after finding her abandoned with a severe traumatic hip dislocation along with tape embedded in head amongst other cuts and bruises.

Thanks to their efforts and donations from GoFundMe, they were able to get her the surgery she needed in January. Although she is still recovering and building her confidence, she is the biggest cuddle ever!! She loves to chase the chipmunks and squirrels in her new backyard (great post op therapy!).

She loved seeing and playing in snow for the first time! She dislikes being alone in a room so trails behind everywhere we go. She's just a big baby in a 50 pound body. We just love her and are so glad her foster moms and I crossed paths giving her the forever home she deserves!"

Participating in the Pet of the Week happenings is simple: submit your nomination by emailing alexis.tarrazi@patch.com. Be sure to include a photograph or two of your pet, a paragraph about what makes him or her so great, and the town you're from. You can choose to include your name, but you don't need to. Then just keep an eye out for a photo of your pet on the Patch!

The photo can be of a present pet, or it can be a baby picture of the adult pet you're so proud of today.

Additionally the chosen Pet of the Week will receive 20 percent off any single item in Dukes's Pet Den in Scotch Plains. And winners can also bring their pet into the store, located at 417 Park Ave., in Scotch Plains for a picture. Duke's will put them up on their Facebook page as well.
