Scotch Plains-Fanwood School District Among Best In New Jersey

Niche.com released its annual list of the top public school districts in New Jersey. See where Scotch Plains-Fanwood ranks.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Regional School District was among the top-ranked districts in New Jersey for the 2020-21 school year, according to Niche's 2021 K-12 rankings.

The district was ranked 32nd best in New Jersey and 5th best in Union County.

Each New Jersey district received a letter grade in the following categories: Academics; Diversity; Teachers; College Prep; Clubs & Activities; Health & Safety; Administration; Sports; Food; and Resources & Facilities.

To arrive at the rankings, Niche looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores, college data, and ratings collected from Niche users. (You can read more about the methodology here.)

Scotch Plains-Fanwood has 5,631 students in grades PK, K-12 and has a student-teacher ratio of 13 to 1. A total of 66 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 78 percent in reading, according to state test scores reported by Niche.

"I am really pleased with the high level of education that is available to my children at Scotch Plains Fanwood schools. They have attended elementary, middle and now high school in this district. They have had the opportunity to participate in many after school activities and sports. All round an excellent experience!" said a Scotch Plains-Fanwood parent.
