Scotch Plains-Fanwood Schools Closed Wednesday Due To Snow

Breaking: All Scotch Plains-Fanwood Schools, Union County College will be closed on Wednesday due to the impending storm.

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ — All Scotch Plains-Fanwood Schools will be closed on Wednesday due to the impending storm.

Union County College and Kean University are also closed on Wednesday.

Fanwood residents are also reminded to remove all vehicles from the roadway to allow the DPW to effectively and efficiently perform snow removal operations.

Residents should ensure that they do not shovel or snow blow their snow back into the roadway after it has been plowed as this creates a hazardous condition, Fanwood Police report.

Fanwood Borough Code 259-22 states that residents shall remove all snow and ice from any sidewalk in front of their property within 12 hours of daylight after the snow has fallen or formed.

As many as 18 inches of heavy, wet snow could fall, creating the potential for power outages across the state. The double-wave storm, the fourth possible nor'easter to hit New Jersey in three weeks, could be a "long-duration event" packing 45 mph winds. The bulk of the storm is expected to come in two waves, especially on Wednesday, and could extend the nor'easter to a 36-hour system.
