Scotch Plains-Fanwood Schools To Get More State Aid For 2020-21

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ — Scotch Plains-Fanwood Regional Schools can expect to see an increase in their state aid for the 2020-21 school year.

Gov. Phil Murphy's administration released the proposed state aid numbers on Thursday for every school district in the 2020-21 school year.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood Regional is expected to see a 16.09 percent increase in state aid. This means the district would receive a total of $4,652,162 or $644,775 more in state aid.

Linden received the highest increase in aid in Union County with 18.78 percent.

Winfield Township received the least with a decrease of 1.38 percent. Winfield was the only Union County school district to get a decrease.

Overall, state aid would increase 3.8 over the 2019-20 school year under a plan that requires approval from the state Legislature. That number would be larger than the 2.43 percent increase Murphy proposed last year.
