Scotch Plains Man Who Exposed Himself, Arrested Again

Melvin A. Hanciles, 26, of Scotch Plains was arrested and charged with violating a restraining order, resisting arrest and open warrants.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — A Scotch Plains man, who had exposed himself to a juvenile girl at Farley Park on April 13, was arrested again on multiple charges.

On April 20, Melvin A. Hanciles, 26, of Scotch Plains was arrested and charged with violating a restraining order, resisting arrest and several open warrants out of Scotch Plains, police report.

Officers noticed Hanciles and tried to make contact with him but Hanciles fled from the officers. Hanciles was taken into custody after a foot pursuit, police report.

He was transported to headquarters, processed and transported to the Union County Jail.

Hanciles was previously arrested on April 13 after the juvenile girl's family members reported to police that he exposed himself in front of the girl at Farley Park. Hanciles was found outside of the park, arrested and charged with lewdness, Scotch Plains Police reported.
