Scotch Plains Native, Recovering Addict Missing For 5 Days
Breaking: Scotch Plains native Billy Hannam, who worked at Blow In Blow Out in Summit, was last seen on Friday, Dec. 1.
SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Scotch Plains native Billy Hannam has been missing for five days and friends are worried about him as he is a recovering addict.
Hannam was reported missing to Scotch Plains Police on Dec. 2 by his "surrogate mom," Janet Dillon, who had been living in her Plainfield home with her family for years, according to Scotch Plains Police Chief Theodore Conley.
He was last seen on Friday, Dec. 1 in Newark. He is 27 years old and described as 6 foot tall, 170 pounds with short brown hair and brown eyes.

"On the basis of the ominous note he left, he is in trouble. He was last at my house in Plainfield on Friday morning," Dillon posted on Facebook.
Hannam, a recovering drug addict, had been staying with Dillon after going through rehab and had been sober for about six weeks, Dillon told Patch.

"He was rocking sobriety and doing exceptionally well," Dillon said.
The note he left behind stated the he had relapsed was going to check into a rehab facility, but Dillon said that he left all of his belongings behind, which didn't make sense.
"If he was going to rehab he would've left prepared for it," Dillon said. "He didn’t take his phone charger, or book and I don't know if he even had a jacket. He wasn't prepared to go to rehab, especially leaving his phone charger behind is really disturbing."
Hannam has been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database so if he comes in contact with any law enforcement officer they will know he is missing, Conley said.
Hannam, a Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School graduate, had previously worked as a lead stylist at Blow In Blow Out in Summit. An employee at the salon confirmed Hannam worked there previously but did not have any other information to provide.
Anyone with information on Hannam should contact the Scotch Plains Police at 908-322-7100. If someone doesn't feel comfortable going to the police due to the drug connection Dillon asks that they reach out to her on Facebook or call 908-209-1548.
