Scotch Plains’ Pooch Is A TV Star, Watch His Video Segment On FOX

Watch this video of Talo a Rottweiler from Scotch Plains who was featured on Fox' "Keeping Dogs Cool" and is changing opinions on his breed.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Meet Talos. This furry, happy-go-lucky Rottweiler is a bit of a celebrity in Scotch Plains and changing people’s opinions about his breed.

Talos’ mom Alexandra Niles takes him on a one to one and a half hour walk every day, no matter the weather, around the township.

“He has many friends among our neighbors, kids, and of course the pups — even the cats and town bunnies aren’t afraid of his goofy mug,” Niles said. “He’s a clown and loves to make people laugh and smile, he’s calm, friendly and always willing to shake paws or give a hi-five. He loves going to the Farmer’s Market each Saturday, and attending our town parades and events.”

Niles got Talos about four years ago as a puppy as an engagement gift from her now-husband Russell and with his loving personality and goofy smile, he has become an ambassador of the Rottweiler breed.

Niles and Talos are active members of the American Rottweiler Club, Colonial Rottweiler Club, Versatile K9 Sports Club, and recently joined the Twin Brooks Kennel Club.

At 5 months Talos earned his American Kennel Club (AKC) STAR Puppy certificate and his Canine Good Citizen badge a week later. In addition to achieving three Championship titles and National awards for his good looks, he’s also attained the Companion Dog title in AKC Obedience & CDSP Obedience along with several Rally Titles. He earned all three of the new Trick Dog titles in one day last month.

This past spring, he represented the Rottweiler Breed at Westminster Meet the Breeds event in February that attracted more than 15,000 people to New York City.

In March, Talos represented Rottweilers at the AKC Press Conference which is held annually in New York City to disclose the Top 10 Most Popular Dog Breeds, where the breed went up from last year to the number 8 position.

Talos is currently working on his Grand Championship so that next year he can show at Westminster.

Niles helps keep Talos in the spotlight with his very active social media presence.

He has his own website www.talesoftalos.com, where Niles shares Talos’ adventures and also on Facebook. Talos also has his own YouTube channel.
