Join the library staff on Saturday, October 13 at 2 pm when Stephen Macknik returns to the library to discuss his award-winning book Sleights of Mind: What the Neuroscience of Magic Reveals about Our Everyday Deceptions. This book offers a glimpse into the neuroscience of magic and secret principles that may unlock questions about how our minds really work. By understanding how magicians hack our brains, we can better understand how the same cognitive tricks are at work in advertising strategy, business negotiations, and many other situations. Copies will be available to purchase and have signed by the author.
Macknick is a Professor of Ophthalmology, Neurology, and Physiology & Pharmacology at the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center, where he directs the Laboratory of Translational Neuroscience.
