Scotch Plains School Named 2017 National Blue Ribbon Winner

Only 17 New Jersey schools were named as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2017​.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Congrats to the Academy for Allied Health Sciences! The U.S. Department of Education has named the Scotch Plains school as one of the 2017 National Blue Ribbon Schools.

Academy for Allied Health Sciences was only one of two schools from Union County to receive this honor. The Academy of Our Lady Of Peace in New Providence also made the list.

Academy for Allied Health Sciences, located at 1776 Raritan Road in Scotch Plains is part of the Union County Vocational‐Technical School District.

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes outstanding schools including: public schools including charter schools, magnet/choice schools, Title I schools, and non-public schools including parochial and independent schools.

Using standards of excellence evidenced by student achievement measures the USDOE honors high-performing schools and schools that are making great strides in closing any achievement gaps among student groups.

Awarded schools will be honored at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., where each receives a plaque and flag to signify its exemplary status.
