Scotch Plains Student To Attend College Of The Holy Cross

Shannon McDermott was among 67 students to graduate from Oak Knoll School and will attend College of the Holy Cross in the fall.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — A Scotch Plains resident was among 67 students to graduate from Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child during its 89th commencement ceremony on June 11 in Summit.

The graduates kept with school tradition and donned white gowns and gloves, and carried peach roses.

Shannon McDermott of Scotch Plains will be attending the College of the Holy Cross in the fall.

McDermott was heavily involved with extracurricular and service activities at Oak Knoll, including serving as vice president of the Stock Market Club. She was also a member of the Green Team and served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion during on campus liturgies. She was also a peer leader as a freshman.

She was also a member of the Spanish Honors Society, and was named First Team All-Division for soccer and was on the squad that won the Prep A Championship and a share of the Non-Public crown in 2016.

Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child is a Catholic, independent school, coeducational from kindergarten to grade 6 and for girls in grades 7 to 12.
