Scotch Plains Woman to be Awarded $877,000 by Madison School Board

A judge ordered the Madison Board of Education to pay Scotch Plains resident Joan Briel $877,000 in legal fees, NJ.com reported Thursday. The board settled with Briel in February for an undisclosed amount, most of which will be paid by its insurer. 

Briel, 58, suffers from multiple scleroris, according to the report, and she worked in the Madison school district as an accounts payable secretary. She was fired while on medical leave in 2007, and she filed a lawsuit in 2008. Click here for the story.
