Shakespeare Celebrations at the Scotch Plains Public Library

Join us for a Shakespeare Slam and Raconteur Radio performance of Macbeth on Wednesday, April 13.

Scotch Plains Public Library invites you to mark the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death with special programs throughout the month of April. In the spirit of the bard, “let us not burden our remembrances with a heaviness that’s gone.” Instead, let us marvel at the wonder of his words and revel in his unmatched wit!

Join us on Wednesday, April 13 at 5 pm for a Shakespeare Slam. Bring your favorite soliloquy, sonnet, or scene to perform or use one we’ve selected. All participants will receive a small prize. Stick around because Raconteur Radio will present their immersive take on Shakespeare’s Macbeth at 6:30 pm. Their performance will feature theatrical lighting, period costumes, Golden Age radio equipment, fog, and extensive sound effects. This Staged Radio Play is an experience not to be missed! Advanced registration is recommended for these events.

Our celebration of the English poet continues with Shakespeare Jeopardy! on Wednesday, April 27 at 6:30 pm. Test your knowledge of the bard’s life and work. Advanced registration is required for this event.
