SPF High School Students Find Ways to Help

SPF high schools students launched QuaranTeam Tutors to help families with At Home Learning. Homework help is free of charge.

Scotch Plains Fanwood High School sophomores, Avery Burman, Marin Brace, and Ariel Burman, were looking for a way to help during this crisis. They realized that many families were struggling with At Home Learning, especially now that New Jersey schools are officially closed for the remainder of the school year. Whether it’s balancing the need to work from home while also teaching your own children, or children struggling to learn in this new online environment, they decided that they can help. They launched QuaranTeam Tutors to fill this need. With some social media posts, they learned many of their peers were also willing to help. They quickly compiled a list of more than 15 high school tutors to start and began offering free tutoring by either tutoring kids themselves or matching other tutors to students in need. They have also coordinated with the SPF High School administration to help with supervision and monitoring for SPF elementary and middle school students.

Quaranteam Tutors are accepting students in elementary and middle school and will try to match you with someone whose skill set matches your child’s needs. It can be as simple as organizing your home school needs, helping with homework assignments and questions, or extra practice to enhance your child’s learning, all FREE of charge as a way that these students can do their part to help during the Coronavirus crisis. If you are interested in learning more for your child or are an SPF high school student who wants to volunteer, please email quaranteamtutors@gmail.com.
