Health and Safety Courses: The Y offers American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR and AED courses throughout the year to help prepare individuals to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies. The Y also hosts American Red Cross Lifeguarding courses monthly, paving the way for a rewarding career in Aquatics.
Youth Gymnastics: Gymnastics is a fun way for a child to develop motor skills, self-esteem, self-discipline and coordination. The Y’s caring teachers encourage each gymnast to progress at their own pace – whether their goal is to someday be a competitive gymnast or just to have fun.
Youth Sports: For preschoolers, the Y is offering Preschool Basketball, Gym Games and Mini Ninja Warrior; for school aged kids, there’s Ninja Warrior and Floor Hockey as well as a co-ed basketball league for 2nd and 3rd graders. Plus, the popular Middle School Track program is back, and the Y is introducing the new class “Have A Ball” (a combination of various games) for middle schoolers.
Preschool Programs: For kids ages 3-5, the Y offers preschool enrichment programs throughout the year to help them learn and thrive. During the Spring 1 Session, the Y is offering “Let’s Meet Famous Artists,” a class in which children will be introduced to 8 famous artists and create artwork inspired by them, as well as “A Trip to the Zoo,” a new class that teaches about different animals through books, songs and crafts.
Vacation Full Days: When school’s out, the Y is in. The Vacation Full Days program is open to active FSPY members in grades kindergarten through 5 on most days that the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Public Schools are closed for the holidays or vacation days. The program runs from 7:00am-6:30pm at the main Y building and each day has its own theme. Registration for this program is currently open at fspymca.org/register under “Daxko Program Registration.”
