Stabbing Death Under Investigation In Union County

Yonatan Alexander Vasquez-Torres, 21, of Elizabeth was identified as the stabbing victim, said police.

ELIZABETH, NJ — Authorities are investigating a fatal stabbing of an Elizabeth man on Sunday morning.

The deceased victim has been identified as 21-year-old Yonatan Alexander Vasquez-Torres of Elizabeth, said Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel, Elizabeth Police Director Earl Graves and Elizabeth Police Chief Giacomo Sacca.

Elizabeth Police went to the 300 block of Center Street shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday and found Vasquez-Torres with a fatal stab wound, according to the preliminary investigation.

The investigation into the stabbing is being led by the Union County Homicide Task Force and assisted by members of the Elizabeth Police Department and Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit.
