UC Magnet High School Makes Newsweek's Top 100

The school ranked 65 in the US and 15 in the Northeast among public high schools.

The Union County Magnet High School for Science, Mathematics, and Technology has been named to Newsweek's America's Best High Schools list, ranking at 65 of 2,000 ranked in the US. The school was also highlighted in the top 25 schools in the Northeast, ranking at 15.

According to Newsweek, UC Magnet has an average SAT score of 1974, an average ACT score of 29.4, an average AP score of 4.3, a 100 percent graduation rate and a 100 percent college matriculation rate.

The school also ranked high in US New's recent list, at 26 in the state and 375 nationwide, earning the "gold" designation.

According to Newsweek's website, each school’s score is comprised of six components: graduation rate (25 percent), college matriculation rate (25 percent), AP tests taken per graduate (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10%), average AP/IB/AICE scores (10 percent), and AP courses offered (5 percent).

Newsweek has been compiling this list for more than a decade and has enlisted a panel of experts to help create a formula for calculating the success of a high school.
