Union County Home Health Aide Charged With Stabbing Patient: Cops

Myrlande Dornelus, 41, a home health aide, was charged with murder of 62-year-old Anna M. Pollard, authorities said.

ELIZABETH, NJ — A home health aide was arrested and charged with fatally stabbing one of her patients in Elizabeth last month, authorities said.

The investigation began on April 13 when Elizabeth Police Department patrol units found 62-year-old Anna M. Pollard in her Elizabeth home on the 200 block of Front Street, acting Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo and Elizabeth Police Department Director Earl Graves and Deputy Chief Giacomo Sacca jointly announced Monday.

Pollard had multiple serious stabbing injuries, which resulted in her death, according to Union County Homicide Task Force Supervisor and Assistant Prosecutor Scott Peterson, who is prosecuting the case.

Myrlande Dornelus, 41, a home health aide, was identified as a suspect in the case and was arrested on Friday. She was charged with first-degree murder and two related weapons offenses, Ruotolo said.

Dornelus was taken to the Union County Jail pending a first appearance and detention hearing to take place in Superior Court.
