Union County VoTech Named To National AP Honor Roll

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ —More Union County Vocational Technical School District students are enrolling in Advanced Placement classes and more students are earning higher marks on those tests.

This uptick in numbers has led the district to be placed on the College Board's ninth annual AP District Honor Roll. Only 373 school districts in the United States were named to the honor roll this year and 39 in New Jersey.

UCVTSD was the only Union County school to earn the honor this year.

The honor is bestowed to districts that increase access to Advanced Placement courses while maintaining or increasing the percentage of students who earn a three or better on AP exams.

In order to earn inclusion on the honor roll, all three technical schools had to, since 2016, increase the number of students participating in AP classes while maintaining or increasing the percentage of students who earned AP exam scores of three or more. Scores are graded on a one-to-five scale.
