The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA will be hosting its second annual Pride Flag Raising on Thursday, June 1 at 2:30pm. The event is open to the community and will take place on the Y’s front lawn by the flagpole at 1340 Martine Avenue in Scotch Plains.

The Y’s Pride Flag Raising celebrates the start of LGBTQ Pride Month and recognizes and celebrates the diversity in our community and the Y. This event demonstrates the Y’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility, and creating a center that is truly for all.

“We want everyone to know that they are welcome at the Y, a safe space where each individual is encouraged to be their authentic selves,” said Tracy Crane, the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA’s Associate Executive Director. “Our goal is to support every member of our Y community so they can reach their full potential with dignity.”
