SECAUCUS, NJ — Culture comes to Secaucus as Shakespeare in the Park presented "Macbeth" in Buchmuller Park Wednesday night.

But don't worry if you missed it: Save the date for the next Shakespeare in the Park performance at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 3. The featured play for that evening will be "A Midsummer Night's Dream."

Shakespeare in the Park is sponsored by the Friends of the Secaucus Public Library.

"Hiding Anne Frank" Tuesday, April 25 at 7 p.m. at the library

In honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day, please join us for Prudence Wright Holmes' riveting, dramatic one-woman show, "Hiding Anne Frank." Hear the story of Miep Gies, an extraordinary woman who at the age of 32 risked her own life to help Anne Frank, her family, and others hide from the Nazis for over two years.

This performance is hosted by the Friends of the Secaucus Public Library as part of their Spring General Membership Meeting. The Friends of the Library will hold a brief meeting, including our biannual elections, at 6:30pm, followed by the performance at 7pm. All are invited to attend both the meeting and the performance. Space is limited, please register using the online calendar at secaucuslibrary.org.

Every Tuesday, 6:30pm-7:30pm. Get Hooked! Learn to Crochet with Val. Spend an hour with people who enjoy a good stitch, a good pattern or talk about their favorite book! Participants are encouraged to bring their own supplies when possible. Beginners are welcome; more experienced crochet workers may wish to bring their own projects. Intended for adults, 16 and up.

Thursday, April 13 3-3:45 p.m. Scream Break: Donut Decorating. Tweens and Teens ages 12 and up are invited to join us for horror-themed donut decorating for scream break! Decorate your best horror-themed donut for a chance to win a prize that's sure to make you scream! All materials will be provided.

Friday, April 14 5-6pm. Family Trivia Night: Marvel. Families with children ages 10 and up are invited to join us for a trivia night inspired by Marvel! Snacks will be provided along with a prize for the lucky winning team!

Monday, April 17 5:30 -6:30pm. Literary Legos. Children ages 7-10 are invited to listen to a fun story and build a Lego creation based on that story!

Tuesday, April 18 5-7pm. Virtual Reality for Adults (Monthly program.) Have you wanted to try out VR? Do you wish you can travel the world or play games in a new way? Come to the Katherine Steffens Annex location at 5:00pm to try out and use the Oculus Quest 2. You can either play games like Beat Saber or check out videos and tours around the world. Sign up today! Adults only.

Tuesday, April 18 7 p.m. Secaucus Gardening Club. Join the Secaucus Gardening Club for a hands-on workshop to get started with gardening. If you are over age 12 and you have a garden of your own, a plot in a community garden, or are interested in volunteering to help with our library garden, please join us! New Members Welcome!

Wednesday, April 19 at 4 p.m. People in Your Neighborhood Story Time. Come to the Katherine Steffens Library Annex for a story time and meet this month's neighbor Kimberly McCleary, the Secaucus Environmental Director. Ages 4-8.

Friday, April 21 6-7:30 pm. Family Fun Night. Make a special spring craft with instructors Barbara Hennig and Destinee Salinas. Adults and children over the age of 6 (accompanied by an adult.)

Tuesday, April 25 5-7pm. Retro Video Games @ The Annex. We are having a blast from the past! Check out retro videos games from back in the day. Play games like Super Mario Bros, Tetris and other NES games with old-school controllers. We will also offer VR.

Friends of the Library Book sale runs at the library through April 30:

All books, DVDs, CDs, etc. just $1 per item! Sale will take place in the lobby of the main library at 1379 Paterson Plank Road starting on Thursday, April 20th and running through Sunday, April 30th in celebration of National Library Week. All proceeds benefit library events, workshops and programs for children and adults.
